Abstract
Purpose :These experiments were carried out to examine the effect of inhibitory effect of Silsosan on the growth of human uterine myomal cells in vitro

Methods :(1) The control was uterine myomal cells cultured in optimum conditions and experimental samples were cultured in optimum conditions plus the addition of these concentrations of Silsosan: 10, 5, 1, 0.5, 0.1, 0.05 and 0.01 percent. (2) MAP kinase and bcl-2 gene were compared in in vitro cultured uterine myomal cells between control and treatment groups.

Results :Any concentration of Silsosan above 5% yielded growth inhibition. demonstrating the effectiveness of Silsosan as a growth inhibitor on uterine myomal cells. The MAP kinase activity in uterine myomal cells treated with Silsosan was decreased to the concentration of 0.1% yielded and the expression of bcl-2, a Cell Apoptosis-related gene, in uterine myoma cells treated with Silsosan was gradually increased with increasing concentration of Silsosan.
